Hi Friends,

It's still deep winter and a time of planning, but this morning, I'm pulled back to last July and the first time I stepped on the farm with the real intent to begin Blackbird Acres.

It was the kind of day when the air hung heavy with the promise of impending rain and the sun beat down relentlessly. As I pulled up the gravel driveway, the heat rose off the parched earth, enveloping me in a warm embrace that seemed to whisper of the land's resilience.

With each step I took, the air was alive with the hum of insects and the rustle of leaves, a symphony of life that echoed the heartbeat of the land. And yet, amidst the cacophony of nature's song, there was a stillness—a sense of anticipation that hung in the air like a veil.

As I approached the barn, its weathered facade loomed large against the backdrop of the horizon, a testament to the passage of time and the enduring spirit of this place. The ivy, relentless in its advance, had claimed the structure as its own, its verdant tendrils weaving a tapestry of greenery that obscured the remnants of what once was.

But as I stood amidst the ruins, I couldn't help but feel a spark of excitement—a glimmer of hope that whispered of the possibilities that lay just beyond the ivy-covered walls. In my mind's eye, I saw the barn restored to its former glory, its interior alive with the hum of activity as we breathed new life into this once-vibrant space. And while the barn itself may not be salvageable, the space would hold life again

Beyond the barn, I saw fields teeming with life—rows upon rows of crops swaying in the gentle breeze, and animals grazing contentedly in the warm summer sun. I saw a future where Blackbird Acres was more than just a farm—it was a community hub, a beacon of sustainability and stewardship in a world hungry for change.

There was also the abandoned house, weathered by time but brimming with untapped potential. With its rustic charm and idyllic setting, unlike the barn, this structure still holds the promise of coming back. While it may require elbow grease and TLC (and yes, money) to restore it to its former glory, envisioning cozy evenings and waking up to the sounds of the farm will make the journey worthwhile.

With dedication and determination, we aim to breathe new life into this forgotten gem, transforming it into a welcoming sanctuary for generations to come.

So, dear friends, as I stand on the precipice of this new chapter in the Blackbird Acres story, I invite you to join me in envisioning the future of this land. Together, let us sow the seeds of a brighter tomorrow, one harvest at a time.

Until next time,

Molly Elliot
